US health officials are changing the way monkeypox vaccine is administered to patients to reduce access to the vaccine. Announced emergency approval to double.
Tuesday's emergency clearance will allow providers to administer the vaccine intradermally. That is, it is injected into the upper layers of the skin rather than into the bloodstream.
The new procedure will allow providers to use only one-fifth of his normal dose, thus increasing access to the US vaccine supply.
"This will further accelerate and strengthen our response," said Xavier Becerra, Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
