Man Utd news: Sir Jim Ratcliffe sent clear message amid Kylian Mbappe admission

Manchester United are finally up and running in Europe - at the third time of asking.

The Red Devils headed into Tuesday night's match against FC Copenhagen in desperate need of a win after losing their opening two Champions League group games at the hands of Bayern Munich and Galatasaray respectively. And fortunately for Erik ten Hag, Harry Maguire struck in the second-half to give United a priceless victory.

With United finally off the mark in Group A, focus will now turn back to the Premier League, with the Manchester derby on the horizon. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest news from in and around Old Trafford ahead of Sunday's huge clash against Manchester City...

Ratcliffe sent message over Ten Hag

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes Erik ten Hag has done a good job and hopes that the Dutchman will be backed by Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe if his offer for a minority stake in the club is ratified in the coming weeks.

Ratcliffe has tabled a proposal worth £1.4 billion for 25 per cent of United and is expected to be granted control of sporting matters by the Glazers once the formalities of a deal are concluded.

There has been speculation that Ineos could embark on an overhaul behind the scenes in the coming weeks, although it is anticipated Ten Hag will remain in his post - something that Scholes hopes will be the case.
