Teenager, 18, in 'critical condition' after being hit by London bus

A teenager is in critical condition after being hit by a bus in central London.

The 18-year-old was rushed to hospital after the collision this afternoon.

The bus driver was stopped at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.

There have been no arrests so far, the Metropolitan Police said.

Officers were called to the scene in Pentonville Road at around 12.10pm, the force added.

Following the incident, road closures are in place and there is traffic congestion in the area.

The A501 Pentonville Road, near King's Cross, is shut in both directions.

Six buses - the 30, 73, 205, 214, 394 and 476 - have been diverted, MyLondon reports.

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: "Police were called at approximately 12:10hrs on Friday, 7 October to reports of a collision involving a bus and pedestrian in Pentonville Road, junction with Baron Street, N1.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended.

"The pedestrian, a man believed aged 18, was taken to hospital for treatment – he remains there in a critical condition.

"The driver of the bus stopped at the scene. No arrests. Enquiries into the circumstances continue. Road closures remain in place around the scene.

"Anyone with information that could assist is asked to contact police on 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD 3007/7Oct."

The Mirror has contacted the London Ambulance Service for comment.
