Nicolas Raskin in contract stalemate as Rangers target forces Standard Liege to push transfer panic button

Contract rebel Nicolas Raskin is set to hold crunch talks with Standard Liege over a new deal with Rangers touted as one of the clubs keeping tabs on the midfielder.

The 21-year-old had been previously been on the Ibrox radar in the summer amid uncertainty over Glen Kamara 's future, but a switch for the Belgian U21 international failed to materialise and he remained with Ronny Deila's side despite entering the final year of his contract. The January window is rapidly approaching and the talented midfielder could leave for nothing in the summer, but the club are pressing for fresh talks with the player.

Director of Football Fergal Harkin has reportedly jetted out to the club's winter training camp in Marbella for crunch talks with Raskin with the former Manchester City transfer guru desperate to get a final answer on the latest terms. Le Soir have named Rangers, Spezia, Club Brugge and Olympiacos the sides interest in Raskin at this stage.

However, with Michael Beale looking to put his own stamp on the club it remains to be seen if the Scottish Premiership side will renew their interest in the enforcer. Previously reports in Belgium has named ex-Ibrox boss Gio van Bronckhorst as an admirer.
