Morgue monster David Fuller given four more years for sexual abuse of dead women

A necrophiliac double murderer who abused his position at a hospital to sexually abuse female corpses has been jailed for a further four years.

David Fuller, 68, is already serving a life sentence for murdering Wendy Knell, 25, and Caroline Pierce, 20, before sexually assaulting them in Tubbirdge Waes, Keny, in 1987.

He was also sentenced for sexual offences against 78 dead women and girls between 2008 and 2020.

The electrician used his job to gain access to the mortuaries late at night, spending hours filming and photographing himself defiling at least 101 bodies.

He was today sentenced to four more years at London’s Old Bailey for abusing a further 23 women.

Fuller, from Heathfield, east Essex, carried out the macabre abuse across a 13-year period at hospitals in Kent and Sussex.

He admitted last month to 12 counts of sexual penetration of a corpse and four counts of possession of extreme pornography.

Kent Police have managed to identify 13 of the 23 further victims, but the other 10 remain a mystery.

Among the victims include a nine-year-old girl, two 16-year-olds and a 100-year-old woman.

At the sentencing hearing, the daughter of one of Fuller’s victims told the court ‘pain and emotional upset seared through my body’ tore through her when she found out what happened to her mother.

‘David, I want you to know how much damage you have caused, how your sick and twisted behaviour has damaged families like mine,’ she told Fuller.

‘I’m pleased you are now being held accountable for what you did only seven hours after she died.’

The cases came to be known as the ‘bedsit murders’ and one of Britain’s longest unsolved double killings until a DNA breakthrough led investigators to Fuller.

Police found four hard drives stuck to the back of Fuller’s cupboard in his Heathfield home rammed with ‘a library of unimaginable sexual depravity’, prosecutors said last December.

The judge, Justice Cheema-Grubb told Fuller he had ‘no regard for the dignity of the dead’.

Passing sentence, she said: ‘You have spent the last 45 years living an outwardly mild and ordinary life.

‘You were described as a man good under pressure while in seclusion you committed acts of the deepest darkness.

‘You became a vulture, picking your victims from among the dead within the hidden world of hospital mortuaries which you were free to inhabit simply because you had a swipe card.

‘The depravity of what you did reveals your conscience is seared. You will spend every day of the rest of your life in prison.’
