Lee Byer, 44, from Woolwich, today I will appear at the Willesden Magistrate's Court later.
He is charged with the stabbing to death of Mr. Thomas O'Halloran around 4pm on Tuesday.
The pensioner traveled on a scooter about 75 yards to Runnymede Gardens and called for help from civilians, but he died on the spot.
O'Halloran, from Ennistimon, County Clare, Ireland, was known as a local busker who raised money for Ukraine.
Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the killing in Greenford around 4:00 pm Tuesday.
