CHARLES EGG ‘ATTACK’

A MAN has been charged after an egg was allegedly thrown at the King during a walkabout yesterday.

The monarch was greeting crowds in Luton town centre when the incident is said to have taken place.

Cops arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of assault at the time.

Bedfordshire Police today confirmed a 28-year-old man has been charged with a public order offence.

Officers believe the egg was thrown in the direction of the monarch at St George's Square.

Charles, 74, was temporarily steered away from the crowds by his security staff.

In a statement, the force said: "A 28-year-old man has been charged in relation to an incident which occurred during His Majesty King Charles III's visit to Luton yesterday.

"The man was charged under section five of the Public Order Act and has been bailed to appear at Luton Magistrates' Court on January 9 2023."
