Kate Middleton makes subtle nod to Meghan Markle with outfit choice on royal visit

Kate Middleton made a subtle nod to Meghan Markle as she donned stylish diamond earrings from the Duchess of Sussex’s favourite brand.

The sweet gesture came as the Princess of Wales paid a visit to a hospital maternity unit with the senior royal opting to mark the occasion with the dazzling design from high-end retailer Emily Mortimer.

Meghan has made her love for the fashionable label clear numerous times in the past and her sister-in-law has clearly taken notice with the white, gold and diamond pear detachable drops paired with a stunning marigold yellow dress.

The diamond design also intended to pay tribute to women’s empowerment with the inspiration behind it coming from a Greek goddess of marriage, women and fertility as well as protecting children during childbirth.

Emily Foskett, founder of the jewellery brand, couldn’t stop herself gushing over the princess donning her design.

She told PEOPLE: "I'm incredibly proud. She's incredibly stylish, and it's an absolute dream come true to see her wearing my earrings.”

But unfortunately for royal fans looking to copy the look, just one pair of the earrings costs an eye-watering £795.

During her time at the Surrey hospital the royal mum met staff at special unit Jasmine Team, which helps the one in five women affected by mental health illnesses during pregnancy and the postnatal period.

The 40-year-old also enjoyed a cuddle with a young baby named Bianca, whose mother had received support at the hospital.

It shows how smooth Kate had quickly brushed off an encounter with a heckler earlier in the week to jump back into royal engagements after being told: “Ireland is for the Irish.”
