Irvine Meadow's Colin Spence fires broadside as Kilwinning Rangers are cleared after investigation of 'unqualified player'

Irvine Meadows co-boss Colin Spence has slammed the league chief's handling of a disciplinary inquiry into last month's derby againstKilwinning Rangers.

Kilwinning found "no reason to answer" to allegations that he used an ineligible player for the opening game against Meadow.

Buffs skipper Kevin Nicoll said his team was on a 3-1 west of the game despite SFA documents suggesting he was suspended for two games. In the Scottish League (WoSFL) Premier Division he played the full 90 minutes.

However, it was announced on Saturday that the WoSFL Disciplinary Committee had cleared Buff of misconduct, citing mismanagement outside the club.

So while the 3 to 1 result is valid, Spence thinks the whole thing was handled poorly from start to finish.

He said:

``The SFA, the West of Scotland League and others who deal with this issue did not have the decency to let us know. Suspended. It's obvious to everyone. The decision to be honest with you is a bit of a joke.

``It took me two weeks to make a decision.

``If that were the case, I would have dealt with it quickly in a day or two.

This was an administrator error and the results may have been different that day."
