How to use the London Marathon 2022 live tracker app

Time to dust off your trusty trainers and don your lycra leggings – the 2022 London Marathon is happening today, October 2.

While the fitness fans and charity fundraisers among us will be taking on 26.2 miles through Central London, many more will simply be watching from the safe haven of the sidelines.

But if you’ve got a loved one who’s running in the marathon, is there another way to keep tabs on their progress?

There is indeed, and it’s called: The Official TCS London Marathon App.

It will let you see where individual runners are at any time, as they make the hours-long journey to the finish line.

Here’s what you need to know.

How to use the London Marathon 2022 live tracker app

Yep, the TCS London Marathon App is a live tracker.

The participant needs to download the app on their device, via the Apple App Store and Google Play.

They’ll need to input their booking reference number, as well as an email and date of birth.

Finally, the last step is to enable GPS tracking on the device. This should be done well in advance of the race, as the cut-off for the GPS working is 15 minutes before the start time.

You can’t just go in and track them, though – the participant will need to approve your email address in the app.

To make sure you can follow their route on the day, give them up to two email addresses to approve before the race kicks off.

Input them into the app, and you should be all good to go.

It’s also important to note that, while this is a great feature, it’ll only work when you have GPS signal.

The map should update every two minutes when signal is strong, but it may not update on cue.

To learn more about the app, you’ll need to download the London Marathon event guide via the official website.
