Danny Dyer bags huge new Netflix show after quitting EastEnders

EASTENDERS legend Danny Dyer has landed another job after quitting the BBC One soap - with a HUGE Netflix show.

The actor - who is set to wave goodbye to Albert Square in upcoming scenes - will be hosting a new quiz show on the streaming service.

Danny, 44, will host new show Cheat, which will see contestants use their general knowledge skills or blag their way to £50,000.

He will be joined by co-host, comedian Ellie Taylor, for the quiz programme which is due to launch next year.

The Mick Carter star is no stranger to quizzes, as he previously hosted BBC One's The Wall in its third series.

Since opting not to renew his contract with EastEnders, Danny has also signed up to present a travel show with daughter Dani.

The travel programme - set to air on E4 - will see him and his former Love Island star eldest child tour the globe together.

A TV insider said: “Nobody would have predicted this would have been his first move, even though he did say at the time he was keen to ‘try some other stuff’.”

The creators of the new shows hope Love Island winner Dani, 25, will attract younger viewers.

Danny revealed he will be leaving the BBC One soap this year, sparking speculation he would move to a drama role.

It was thought Danny had signed a new contract for a rival drama on Sky in a six-figure deal.

But now it's also been claimed the soap star is going to give acting lessons to aspiring youngsters at his co-star Charlie Brooks' school.

To be taught by the star, students will have to pay a £30 a month membership, according to The Mirror.

Danny took on the role of Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter in 2013.

But after nine years on the soap, the Football Factory star has decided to move on and pursue other opportunities.

A spokesperson for the soap confirmed back in January: “Danny will be leaving EastEnders when his contract comes to an end later this year.

"Danny has made Mick Carter an iconic character which we shall always be grateful for.

"However we won’t be saying goodbye just yet as there’s still quite some time – and plenty of explosive drama for Mick - to come before he departs Walford."

Danny has previously taken leave from playing Mick to pursue other interests but always returned to the role he has held since 2013.

In 2019 he took a six-week break to appear in a series of plays paying tribute to his mentor Harold Pinter alongside Martin Freeman.
