The King and the royal family are being urged to hit back at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix series by supporting former staff who accused Meghan of bullying.
Ex-employees bound by confidentiality agreements should be allowed to speak out, according to one former Buckingham Palace worker who has complained about the duchess’s behaviour.
The call came on the eve of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary being released, in which the pair are expected to criticise their treatment and repeat allegations of racism in the royal family.
The couple came face to face with the press in New York yesterday, where Prince Harry brushed off questions such as, ‘Are you putting money before family?’ and ‘Are you harming your family, Harry?’
Someone also shouted: ‘Harry, what do you think about destroying the royal family?’
He simply responded, ‘So many questions’, as the pair posed for photos at the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights organisation, where they received the Ripple of Hope Award for their work on racial justice and mental health.
The former Palace aide is calling for non-disclosure agreements to be lifted to allow those who worked with the Sussexes to speak out, as well as pushing for members of the royal family to ‘reject their lies’.
After being angered by two trailers released in the past week, the ex-employee told The Times: ‘It’s emotionally draining. It feels like there’s no end to it.
‘I certainly have chosen to remain silent out of respect for the crown, but if they keep attacking us and our characters, reputation etc, we need to feel we are equally supported by the royal family.’
The duke and duchess have denied previous allegations that Meghan bullied staff, while the Palace has refused to publish the results of a review of those claims by an independent law firm.
Meanwhile, it was business as usual yesterday for the King and the Prince of Wales.
Charles was in Westminster, helping members of Business In The Community celebrate the organisation’s 40th anniversary, while William was at Windsor Castle, where he presented a CBE to business mentor Shalini Khemka for services to entrepreneurship.
Hours before the launch of the £88million, six-episode Netflix docuseries, Meghan’s podcast Archetypes picked up a prize at the People’s Choice Awards in LA.
In a post on her and Harry’s Archewell website, the duchess wrote: ‘Thank you to all the supporters and fans of Archetypes who voted for us for this special People’s Choice Award.
‘I loved digging my hands into the process, sitting up late at night in bed, working on the writing and creative. And I loved digging deep into meaningful conversation with my diverse and inspiring guests.’
