A 15-year-old boy has been jailed for life for fatally stabbing a dad-of-three who had told him off for causing a ‘nuisance’ outside his home.
The teen was just 14 when he plunged an 18-inch kebab knife into 45-year-old Jamie Markham’s neck in Chingford, east London, last year.
He was part of a group of youths confronted by Mr Markham shortly after 6pm for swearing loudly and loitering in a shed area at the back of the block of flats he lived in.
The area had become ‘a spot for anti-social behaviour’ and victim was ‘fed up’ of the noise, which had been plaguing his wife and three kids for months.
An argument broke out after the youths refused to leave, after which Mr Markham, who had just returned home from working as a stone mason, is said to have returned with a drill bit to try and ‘scare them off’.
His murderer, who cannot be named for legal reasons, then told a witness ‘he’s going to get it’.
