Ian Wright has spotted a "shining light" during Arsenal's below-par start to the campaign.

The Gunners suffered a fifth defeat from just 10 Premier League games this season when they went down 2-1 at home to Wolves on Sunday.

That loss has left Mikel Arteta's side down in 14th in the table, and led to many people wondering if the club can build on the Spaniard's promising beginning to life in the Arsenal hotseat, which included winning the FA Cup last season.

Arteta built on those foundations with a number of exciting arrivals in the summer, with the likes of Thomas Partey and Willian linking up with a squad that was also boosted by captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang putting pen to paper on a new contract.

Defender Gabriel was another new signing who arrived in the summer, with the Brazillian coming in from Lille and looking to quickly establish himself in English football.

Gabriel scored his second goal for the Gunners against Wolves

Gabriel scored on his Premier League debut in the 3-0 win at Fulham on the opening day, and has since played in all but one of the Gunners' top-flight fixtures.

He also scored against Wolves on Sunday, but his first-half header ended up being sandwiched between strikes from Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence for the visitors.

Despite that loss, Wright is happy with what he's seen from the Brazilian.

"You have just got a player who is determined to get in," the former forward told Premier League Productions.

Wright has been pleased with Gabriel's impact

"To be honest he’s done pretty well, he’s hit a couple of stray passes, but if we’re looking at someone at Arsenal who is a shining light, he’s one of them.

"I’m not going to dig him out too much, he’s doing the best he can."

Gabriel is likely to be next in action in the north London derby on Sunday.
