The world of work has changed significantly since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and now for many businesses a new model has emerged.
Working from a hotel has emerged as a popular choice for employees a survey by Premier Inn has revealed.
Features often taken for granted in an office but deemed key for successful remote working are Wi-Fi, a comfortable seat and desk, peace and quiet, space and privacy for making calls - not always guaranteed when working from home.
And 30% of office staff polled by Premier Inn say they’d like to work somewhere different other than their home or the office. With thousands needing to stay overnight in a hotel during the week, working from hotels could be the best of both worlds.
Meanwhile, almost two thirds of respondents said that they would opt to stay over in a hotel the night before to prepare for a meeting the next day or stay over after a meeting to wind down.
Tim Campbell MBE, businessman and entrepreneur, said: “The pandemic has presented businesses and workers with many challenges, but it has also created opportunities.
"The digital work revolution has given people the tools and confidence to log-on anywhere at any time. This has required us to innovate how we work at home and in the office and made the whole country our workplace.
"Having travelled around the UK throughout my career, I know I can always rely on hotels to provide what I need to connect when I am working away from home, giving a whole new meaning to WFH.
"I also appreciate how important it is to have the option to check into a hotel that has the space and privacy I need to prepare for an important meeting or unwind after a busy day before heading home. Premier Inn has all the facilities you need to set yourself up to successfully work away from home without the worry.”
Those opting to work from a hotel as part of their flexible working patterns are also finding there are even more advantages, with an added bonus of being able to choose to combine business and leisure.
