It’s only words, and words are all I have, to take your heart away.
“I do. I do!”
Tis the season for weddings.
After a year of Covid restrictions
Couples will soon be,
joining with family and friends across the country
to say these words.
Two simple words, but have you considered their power?
Spoken to one another,
Spoken in front of family and friends, spoken in front of witnesses,
Spoken in front of a magistrate,
Or spoken in front of a priest all of life is forever changed.
Two become one.
And every action which follows is the acting out of the vows which are taken on this momentous occasion.
But there is more.
This couple taking their vows of
“I do” will also want to learn to say,
These two words spoken from the heart lead to another powerful force called reconciliation.
To be able to see beyond the moment,
To search a person’s heart
To know their purpose
To know their potential
To overlook their faults
And to forgive their mistakes
Allows an individual and ultimately the couple,
To become who they have been called to be together.
Families will come to life,
Houses will be built; schools will be filled and the world will be forever changed.
All because of a simple set of words behind a promise and a vow.
“Those who God has joined together, let no man put asunder."
A reminder that all the forces of heaven and earth work together for this couple.
Not just any words but life itself in faith.
