A driver who threw his cup of coffee over a beggar at traffic lights has been branded "disgusting".

In footage that has surfaced one, the beggar is seen standing by the traffic lights on a busy road in Finchley, North London.

The man doesn’t interact with any cars and stands beside the road looking down.

Just as the lights turn green the motorist in the white van hurls the coffee at the man’s face and upper body.

The victim flinches as the liquid is thrown at him and stands helplessly as the attacker races off into the heavy traffic.

The van driver waited for the lights to turn green before throwing the coffee at the man

The cruel incident was captured Monday morning by a car behind the vile motorist.

Andy Booth, 56, the owner of the footage, was outraged and posted the video to social media.

The lorry driver, from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, wrote: "The guy standing at the lights on the right is a beggar, not an aggressive beggar, always polite and grateful if you do pop him a few coins. Did he deserve a cup full of coffee thrown at him like that?

"Unfortunately I didn't get the van reg and don't have the software to do it either. What a t**."

Andy explained to The Mirror that he saw the victim of the attack later in the day, who explained what had happened.

"He was okay, thankfully," said Andy. "The coffee was cold.

The incident has been reported to the police

"I'm going to see if he's there tomorrow, if so I'll stop and have a proper chat with him, find out if he's okay and if there's anything we ,the FB community, can do to help."

Andy can be heard in the video passing the attacker, and can be heard saying: "What a b****."

Mark Morris-Knowles responded to the viral video: "Dreadful behaviour...as that old saying goes...there but for the grace of God. Why do that to someone!"
