Police have said they are "extremely concerned" for the welfare of a pensioner from Hull who has gone missing.

Ernest Silby, 84, was reported missing in the city on Wednesday morning.

Police described him as being white and 5ft 3ins tall, with a bald head that has a "scab on top".

Taking to Twitter at around 6.30am on Wednesday, a spokesperson for Humberside Police said officers were "extremely concerned" for Mr Silby's safety.

They have since launched an appeal for people to contact them if they know of his whereabouts

They said: "We are extremely concerned for the safety of 84 year old Ernest Silby in Hull who has been reported missing this morning.

"He is described as white, 5ft 3, slim build, bald head with scab on top."
