Tommy Fury went above and beyond for girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague's 21st birthday this week.

Fans couldn't believe the lengths the Manchester boxer went to in order to surprise his other half - which included buying her a puppy.

But the pair have now come under fire for the purchase after Molly-Mae admitted the reasons for the late arrival of Pomeranian .

The puppy, which they have called Mr Chai, was imported from Russia during the coronavirus pandemic which hasn't gone down well with the couple's followers.

Fans questioned why it took the dog to so long to arrive after Molly-Mae posted on Instagram and said: "Sat waiting for you, little monster. An hour before I become a dog mum.

"Has anyone ever received a puppy at night? What are you meant to do? Put them to bed or stay up with them??!

"Honestly, this is going to be so entertaining."

But she then added: "He was meant to be here on my birthday btw guys but he's coming from Russia so there was delay etc..."

The social media influencer then posted multiple photos of the pair with the puppy when it did arrive - looking completely smitten with their fur baby.

The pair looked smitten with the new arrival

"Can't believe molly mae got a puppy shipped from russia when there are hundreds of dogs in rescue centres waiting to be adopted..... bad form man," one said.

Another commented: "Was excited to see what pup Molly Mae was getting until she said it was being shipped over from Russia... In the middle of a pandemic."

"Are you realllllly telling me that Tommy Fury thought its was necessary to get Molly Mae a puppy from Russia, for it to be a Pomeranian, a breed widely available in the UK, without the dog having to suffer from all the travel. laughable," added a third.

The Manchester Evening News has approached Molly-Mae Hague's representatives for further comment.

The puppy was a surpris for Molly-Mae's 21st birthday

Molly-Mae was left 'speechless' after Tommy filled their Manchester flat with huge balloon displays, endless gifts and a huge three-tier cake.

Teasing the puppy's arrival, Tommy left a very fancy carrier out for his girlfriend with a note which read: "Dear mummy, I can't wait to meet you in a few days.

"Until then have the best birthday and I know daddy will be spoiling you rotten. Love you lots. Your son, Mr Chai."
