This Morning’s Ruth Langsford explains why she’s not social distancing as viewers don’t realise she’s married to Eamonn

THIS Morning's Ruth Langsford was forced to explain why she wasn't social-distancing from Eamonn Holmes on the show - after new viewers didn't realise he was her HUSBAND.

Some had objected that they were sitting side by side and even touching each other, a sight rarely seen on live television since the coronavirus outbreak.

Ruth, 60, said: "In case you are new to This Morning, because obviously a lot of people would normally be at work, please don't panic that we're not social distancing.

"Obviously Phillip and Holly do - but we are married. As much as we bicker and you might not think we like each other..."

Eamonn, also 60, joked: "I'm just not used to you touching me, that's it."

But Ruth continued: "We are allowed to touch and sit next to each other."

Fans were astonished they had to point out the fact, with one writing: "Can't believe they have to keep doing this maybe you should just have it on the screen for the keyboard warriors."

Another posted: "Seriously, why should they have to explain anything? Why are the masses so ignorant."

But nontheless there were complaints, with one viewer writing: "ITV fix up its supposed to be social distancing and your role models are not doing the same why is that."

Another posted sarcastically: "Ruth and eamon practicing social distancing I see eh."
