The top 100 baby names for both boys and girls in 2020 have been revealed.

Thousands of parents have been registering their baby name choices and BabyCentre have collected all the data to unveil the favourites this year.

They revealed that the most popular name for a girl is no longer Olivia for the first time in three years, EssexLive reports.

Several new names made this year's list including Ayaan, Ronnie, Rowan and Austin for the boys and Lyla, Nora, Eliana, Margot, and Mabel for the girls.

From television shows to Instagram influencers it seems there are a range of different ways mums and dads have been inspired this year.

It seems binge-worthy content watched during lockdown might have given new parents a few ideas.

More babies were called Tiger in 2020 following the surprise hit Tiger King on netflix.

While video game names also proved popular this year, with character names from Animal Crossing, dominating the girls' chart. No less than four of the top 10 girls' names - Olivia, Amelia, Ava and Freya - feature in the game.

One other potential source of inspiration from this year was the Black Lives Matter movement, as a number of names of history's most prominent black activists were reflected in parents' choices.

It seems Instagram influencers like Mrs Hinch also had some influence on baby names in 2020 as her son's name Ronnie stormed into the top 100 at 78.

While Arthur, the name of Billie Faiers' son, rose four places to break into the top five at number four.
