The Light is finally welcoming film fans back to its cinemas this month.

The chain will reopen its theatres on Friday August 21, including those in Bolton and Stockport.

The experience will be a little different than before they closed their doors in March, with new safety measures in place to protect customers and staff.

Auditoriums will be reconfigured to make sure households can sit together but maintain a safe distance from others.

Protective screens will also be installed at till points, and staff will wear face coverings or visors.

Guests will be encouraged to buy tickets online in advance, and can also order food and drink when making their booking.

The usual menu of freshly-made pizzas, burgers and sides will be available, all of which can be delivered straight to guests' seats.

Classic cinema refreshments including popcorn, Ice Blasts and pre-bagged pick and mix will also be available.

Regular cleaning will also be carried out, and hand sanitiser will be available for guests to use.

New releases to look forward to include Christopher Nolan’s Tenet on August 26, alongside a programme of special screenings including family favourites and classic titles including the re-release of the Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back on its 40th Anniversary, 10th anniversary showings of Inception, plus Trolls World Tour.

James Morris, CEO, said: "We are delighted to be reopening and have been busy preparing our cinemas to give our guests the reassurance they need to be able to relax and enjoy the big screen experience again in a clean and safe environment.

"We know how much guests have been missing the cinema and we’re excited about the scheduled line up which includes the highly anticipated Christopher Nolan blockbuster, Tenet, in August as well as Wonder Woman 1984, No Time to Die among others.

"I want to thank everyone for their patience and support, and we look forward to welcoming guests back and to ensuring that they experience the best in cinema.”

Tickets will go on sale from Wednesday August 12.
