A Scots stylist is hoping to lead the way out of lockdown - by offering Nicola Sturgeon style hair cuts.
Savvy Sharon Robertson, from Edinburgh, launched the nod to the First Minister’s look as salons reopened their doors across the country yesterday.
She thought clients might go for a 'power-do' with the SNP supremo drawing plaudits for her handling of the coronavirus crisis.
Sharon, 52, from the Pilrig area of the capital, said: “Clearly people think she’s been a cut above during everything we’ve been through so why not - it might even grow on people.
“Obviously it’s a bit of fun, but what better way to recognise her efforts - I’m sure she’d approve.”
A hairdresser for 37 years, Sharon is starting back at PAINT Hair + Nail Bar in Stockbridge this week.
Her home hairdressing business is also back up and running as she adapts to working post-lockdown in full PPE.
She said: “I’m so excited, it’s felt like the first day of high school being back - people have been greeting me like a long lost relative.
“A lot of people are opting for home visits because they’re worried about going into salons for the next few months.
“For many, I’m the first stranger they’ve seen since lockdown - I’ve had tears of joy and people constantly wanting to give me a hug, which of course we can’t.
“I even got a text off one woman the following morning after I’d cut her husband’s hair saying she turned over and fancied the pants off him again.”
Charging £48 for women and £28 for men, Sharon admitted she has no idea how the Sturgeon style will go down with her clientele.
She said: “Nicola probably isn’t known for her glamour but her look is practical and professional - substance over style, if you like.”
The Record reported last week how thousands of Scots are expected to join a 'Clap for Nicola Sturgeon' event to mark the First Minister's 50th birthday on Sunday.
Mum-of-two Sharon said ‘the Sturgeon’ is a one-off and she has no plans to transform punters into other world leaders.
She said: “I’m not sure there’’s much call for a ‘Boris’, if that’s what you mean.”
