Ex Strictly Come Dancing champion Kevin Clifton has waded in on the on going row over a spoiler leaking the results every week and whether there is a need for a results show on Sunday evenings.

Anyone who follows Strictly religiously will be fully aware that, while the BBC doesn't show the results until Sunday, in reality they are actually filmed right after phone lines close on the public vote following the Saturday live show.

That means that week after week and series after series, the bottom two and result from each vote finds its way online, hours before the pre-recorded results show actually airs on BBC1.

The Strictly spoiler often leaks the result online before midnight every Saturday and, while this week's spoiler is surrounded in some mystery, some fans are angry that it is allowed to be published at all, while others argue that the BBC should stop the pretence that Sunday's result show is live and just air the outcome later on Saturday.

After being questioned by a Strictly fan of the contentious issue, 2018 champion Kevin Clifton, who lifted the Glitterball with celeb partner turned girlfriend Stacey Dooley, has now had his say.

A fan tweeted Kevin, who is currently touring the UK in Rock of Ages, to say that the spoiler should be 'stopped in one fell swoop," arguing that it makes the Sunday results show "completely unnecessary."

And Kevin replied: "....re spoilers, i think if i can avoid them, anyone can. U find them if u look for them. I know everyone on the show & i dont see spoilers."

One of his many followers responded: "It's annoying this is brought up every year, as a Strictly fan I enjoy it being on over two nights and I just make sure I don't look at any comments on posts online before the results show.

"Can't understand people that purposely spoil it."

In agreement, another told the Grimsby born pro dancer: "in all the years strictly has been on i've never seen a spoiler, you have to go searching for them and you have to be pretty desperate if you do that, which is extremely pathetic."

Big talking points from Saturday' show included Sara Davies' sensational tango, viewers being convinced that Adam and Katya 'nearly kissed ' and host Tess being accused of stirring up tension between the judges.

This week's results will play out on screen on Sunday night on BBC1, when Westlife will be the star guests in the ballroom to perform their new single.
