Strictly Come Dancing partners Amy Dowden and JJ Chalmers have finally confirmed what their first dance will be on the BBC competition.
Appearing on The One Show for their first joint interview as a dancing duo, Amy and JJ revealed that they will showcase their waltzing skills on Saturday night as the long-awaited dance show makes a return.
Speaking to Alex Jones, the Strictly pair admitted that they were quite nervous yet excited about showing off their skills on the famous dance floor.
Dishing the gossip, professional dancer Amy told viewers: “JJ will be dancing the beautiful and elegant waltz.
Asked whether or not her celeb partner is any good on the dance floor, gorgeous Amy admitted that JJ’s talent actually surprised her.
“His posture is improving every day, and yeah, his frame actually really surprised me” she said.
Amy, who lives with Crohns disease, also explained how she and JJ have managed to create an intense bond over the past number of weeks.
The pair have been able to connect on a deeper level due to JJ’s injuries and Amy’s health condition.
Lifting the lid on their bond, Amy explained: “We totally understand each other in so many different ways. The producers walked in the other day and we were talking about having our trips to hospital.
“We’ve both overcome a lot and we’re quite determined characters to both be where we are today.”
Meanwhile, JJ added: “Whenever I hear Amy speak about what she’s had to put up with and how she has driven forward to become the best at what she does you know, it is entirely what I want to do as well, move beyond everything that held me back and I should just look at, you know, the possibilities and that is what the process is about.
“Doing what you can do rather than what you can’t.”
JJ and Amy will be dancing a waltz in the first live show when Strictly Come Dancing premieres on BBC One on Saturday 24th October.
