Scores of schools across the North East have closed after Storm Arwen battered the region over the weekend.

Schools said they have been left without power and water, while their phone lines are also not working.

There have been 11 school closures in County Durham.

Twenty five schools across Northumberland have also been forced to close for the day after sustaining damage from Storm Arwen.

This temporary closure is effective from 28 November to 30 November due to the impact of bad weather over the weekend which was had caused to disruption to power, electricity, water, heat and phone line supplies

Otterburn Primary has also reported damage to the roof due to a fallen tree.
