St Johnstone have turned down Hamilton's offer to play a friendly this weekend - meaning Accies will go without a game for 20 days before facing Rangers.

Both the Perth Saints and Accies are without a Premiership game this weekend and boss Brian Rice had attempted to get his side back in action.

Accies missed out on a game last weekend after a Covid outbreak at St Mirren led to the visit to Paiisley being postponed by the SPFL.

He told Lanarkshire Live Sport : “There is only us, St Mirren and St Johnstone this weekend who are off with the cup ties.

“St Mirren obviously can’t play but I tried to get a game against St Johnstone but they didn’t want to play.

“We are limited with who we can play as well because we can only play the Premiership teams, because they are the only teams that are getting tested.”
