Son Heung-min can’t wait to get on pitch with 10 mates… after three weeks sharing room with 10 strangers

SON HEUNG-MIN cannot wait to be back on the field with 10 mates — after spending three weeks of military service with 10 strangers.

The South Korean lifted the lid on his time with his country’s army… but also said he is sworn to secrecy about some elements.

Tottenham forward Son made the most of the Premier League shutdown to carry out the minimum national service he was required to before he turns 28 this summer.

Son, 27, admitted the first few days of his tour of duty took some getting used to – but insists he enjoyed his taste of army life.

He said: "It was a good experience. I couldn't say everything that I've done but I really enjoyed it.

"The first day when we don't know each other was a bit weird but soon we got to know each other.

“We spent every day together in one room, 10 people very close, working together, we helped each other so the time was fantastic.

"Those guys, the first day and second day they couldn't even speak to me but by the end they were joking with me and we were enjoying everyone together.

It was a good experience. I couldn't say everything that I've done but I really enjoyed it."

“Those guys were nice. The three weeks were tough but I tried to enjoy it.

"I don't know how the people felt, but for me the three weeks have been long but it was a good experience, I enjoyed it.”

Son has recovered fully from the broken arm suffered in the victory over Aston Villa in February and says he will be up to top fitness by the time the season is due to resume in a fortnight.

He added: "I'm physically fine, I'm working really, really hard to be at my maximum level and I'm nearly there.

"Now we can train together, we're training more than the last two weeks.

"Moussa (Sissoko) is back, Harry (Kane) is back, Stevie (Bergwijn) is back, everyone wants to play again and everyone is motivated."

Son headed into the football lockdown in fine form — netting nine goals and eight assists in 17 appearances.

He also scored five goals and provided one assist in six Champions League game, before the broken arm saw him miss both legs of Spurs’ 4-0 aggregate loss to Red Bull Leipzig in the Last 16.

His injury impeded his progress, as well as a three-match ban for a red card against rivals Chelsea for a kick-out at Antonio Rudiger in December.
