A MAN has appeared in court charged with murdering his mum and attempting to kill his dad in their family home.
James Price, 21, is accused of killing Jacqueline Price and the attempted murder of David Price at the house in Croft Park, Andreas, Isle of Man.
Douglas Courthouse heard Mrs Price was found lying on her back underneath a duvet in a bedroom after police were called to the family home at 2.05am on Sunday.
She was pronounced dead at the scene around 20 minutes later.
James Price appeared in court via video link and was remanded in court until his next appearance on January 26.
No application was made for bail.
In a statement, Detective Inspector Michelle McKillip said: "At this time only limited information can be given about the circumstances surrounding this tragic loss of life and the impact this whole event is having on the family and friends of all of those involved.

"Murders are rare on the Isle of Man, we are more fortunate than many to live in a safe community, but these events do occur and when they do we will do everything within our power to ensure we do the best we possibly can to support the family and to investigate the matter thoroughly."
