A new group of councillors have been elected to serve the residents of Rossendale following the May 6 local elections.

A total of 13 new councillors were elected across 13 Rossendale Borough Council wards.

Only 12 councillors were meant to be elected on the day but due to the passing of Councillor Terry Haslam-Jones, a by-election was also called to replace the Stacksteads councillor.

Prior to May 6, the Labour group was the ruling political party with Councillor Alyson Barnes the political leader of the local authority.

These are the Rossendale wards that will see new councillors:

- Cribden

- Eden

- Facit & Shawforth

- Goodshaw

- Greenfield

- Greensclough

- Hareholme

- Helmshore

- Irwell

- Longholme

- Stacksteads

- Whitewell

- Worsley

Voting opened at 7am on Thursday, May 6 with the last votes cast at 10pm on the same day.

Votes are set to be counted on Friday afternoon with final declaration around 2pm.
