Many shops across Merseyside are hiring just in time for Christmas.

As the festive season edges closer, there are opportunities in Birkenhead, St Helens and Liverpool city centre.

Wilko - customer service assistant

The Wilko branch in Birkenhead is looking for a customer service assistant.

The store said it offers a generous benefits package that includes 28 days holiday as well as Bank Holidays.

The job advert read: "Your role as Customer Service Assistant will be all about making sure every customer receives the very best service, every time, at the till or out on the shop floor.

"Thanks to your warm friendly manner, helpful approach and great product knowledge, customers will keep coming back to us every time they need to tick those to-dos off their list".

DFS - sales advisor

Offering a salary of £28,000 to £30,000, the Speke branch of DFS is hiring.

The full-time role will see the ideal candidate help customers "pick the perfect products for their homes" and will help customers in the showroom.

"Strong customer skills" and "fantastic communication skills" are needed for the role, DFS said.

The job advert said: "Don't worry if you don't have sales experience, for us, it's more about your personality and drive to be the best you can be."

Iceland - online picker

The Iceland in Norris Green is also hiring.

The flexible role is looking for people to work "unsociable shifts" between 2am and 8am, with shifts beginning between 1am and 6am.

The job advert said: "The position is suited to an individual with passion for doing a great job, who wants to work for a business you can be proud of. We believe that our success comes from our colleagues, so we are looking for committed team players to help us become the best on the High Street when it comes to accurately and efficiently fulfilling customer online shopping orders.

"Make a difference as a member of our online operation, where your role will be to pick and pack our great quality products for our online customers as if you were shopping for yourself."

Molton Brown - sales consultant

Specifically hiring for Christmas, Molton Brown is also looking for staff.

Molton Brown said luxury beauty retail experience is desired, but not essential.

The ideal candidate must be flexible to work during key holiday trading periods, it said.

Home Bargains - store supervisor

Home Bargains is looking to take on a full-time member of staff.

With a salary of £22,893, the role is looking for someone available to work 44 hours a week.

The role, available in Gillmoss, will see an ideal candidate undergo training.

The job advert said: "Store Supervisor applicants will be reliable with a professional and focused approach to store operations, leadership and development, taking direction from and supporting the Store and Store Assistant Managers in day-to-day operations.

"The appointed Store Supervisor will be required to complete the Home Bargains Management Training Programme as part of their ongoing development. This is a comprehensive 17 week programme which is completed in three parts."

Three UK - customer advisor

Hiring in St Helens, Three is looking to take on a retail customer advisor.

The part-time role is looking for someone who is available to work 12 hours a week.

Shift patterns are between Monday and Sunday and the ideal candidate must be able to work weekends.

The job advert said: "We need the right team for us to be at our best. We’ll give you lots of opportunities to develop and show your drive to succeed in an environment that supports and prepares you for the next level of your career. You never know, you could be managing one of our stores in the future.

"Just a heads up. You don’t need knowledge in our products, the ambition and drive to learn will do just fine."
