Flash flooding has hit parts of Greater Manchester after heavy rain fell across the region overnight.

Diamond North West bus service said many of their routes across the region are experiencing delays this morning due to flooding.

"Please be advised, due to flooding across the Greater Manchester area, many of our routes are experiencing delays, please give extra time for your journey", the bus operator said in a tweet.

There are also reports of flooding on Queens Road in Miles Platting.

According to traffic alert service, the road is partially blocked due to flooding near the A62 Oldham Road at the railway bridge.

Met Office forecasters predict that more rain will hit the region throughout the day.

Heavy rain showers are forecast from around 11am.

There were similar scenes across Greater Manchester on Monday as torrential rain fell for most of the day.

Some train lines were blocked and motorways were closed due to the flooding.

A yellow weather warning has also been issued for the region later this week.

The warning is in place from midday on Thursday to 11.59pm on Friday.

The warning is in place from midday on Thursday to 11.59pm on Friday.

It could cause ‘periods of heavy rain possibly leading to flooding and disruption to transport’, according to the Met Office.
