Racing has resumed at Cheltenham, but without the usual throngs of punters and bookmakers.

Only a select number of people were permitted entry to the first day of The Showcase on Friday, when the feature Bentley Flying Spur Handicap Chase was won in impressive fashion by Rouge Vif (5/1).

Covid-19 restrictions have put the meeting behind closed doors, seven months after The Festival was held at Prestbury Park.

The usually open concourse is sectioned off with metal railings, the scene attendees see after having their temperature taken on entry.

Elsewhere, owners, trainers and jockeys watch the action in their socially distanced areas.

The first four races on Saturday (starting at 2.05pm) will be shown live on ITV Racing, alongside three from Doncaster and two from Newbury.
