Primary teacher, 42, sacked over sex with pupil’s dad reunited with husband after affair

SCHOOLYARD SCANDAL

A PRIMARY school teacher sacked for having sex with a pupil’s dad has got back together with her husband.

Ann Brenen has now reunited with ex-squaddie spouse Paul two years after the affair saw her fired by Westoe Crown school in North Shields.

The disgraced teacher had embarked on a tryst with the pupil’s dad after a parents evening as her marriage hit the rocks.

Mr Brenen moved out of the family home in 2016 - but it is now believed the couple are back together after he shared pictures of his wife and family on social media in recent weeks, MailOnline reports.

The armed forces veteran, who served in the Light Infantry, also discussed his marriage while standing as an independent councillor for the Westoe ward on South Tyneside Council earlier this year.

While campaigning, he wrote: “I am a happily married family man with two daughters and I want the very best we can achieve for the ward and the town.”

SACKED FROM SCHOOL

Mum-of-three Mrs Brennan was sacked for gross misconduct in 2018 as concerns mounted that she was not properly safeguarding children.

A tribunal was told that she would always ask the same pupil to carry out tasks in the classroom after she separated with her husband.

The board was also told colleagues had concerns about her "inappropriate" relationships with several male parents between 2016 and 2017.

The tribunal judgment stated: "In her evidence to the tribunal, [Mrs Brenen] said she started a sexual relationship with the father of pupil F, a child at her school.

"The claimant did not disclose that relationship to the head teacher. She said she did not do so because it only lasted a short time.

"The claimant's inability to recognise safeguarding issues was clearly a serious matter for the respondent. Her actions amounted to gross misconduct."

Mrs Brenen, who was considered one of the school's 'Leaders of Learning,' launched a failed appeal to get back her job after being fired.

She then filed another failed claim for unfair dismissial and disability discrimination on the grounds she was depressed.

The tribunal also heard how she asked other teachers to mark homework for her, which Mrs Brenen claimed was common among teachers.
