Preston North End interim head coach Frankie McAvoy looks set to have two players back for tonight's game against Derby County.

The Lilywhites take on Wayne Rooney's team, with PNE sat 17th in the table and four games to go in the Championship.

This evening's visitors are desperate for points with relegation a real fear for the Rams.

Liam Lindsay will be back as an option in defence but McAvoy saw his side keep a clean sheet at Stoke last time out.

Daniel Johnson wasn't able to return at the bet365 Stadium but has trained ahead of the Deepdale clash and should be back in the squad.

On his team news for the game, McAvoy said: “Everything is fine, we are ready with a full squad to pick from apart from the longer term ones.

"DJ is running about; whether I pick him (tonight), I need to decide, we will have a look."

Joe Rafferty is still sidelined with a back injury, while Patrick Bauer and Declan Rudd remain out for the season.

North End weren't overly threatening at the bet365 Stadium but McAvoy is unlikely to change from the 3-5-2 formation, so there may well be alterations in personnel.

Brad Potts and Jayson Molumby offer different options and energy in midfield, while Scott Sinclair, Sean Maguire and Anthony Gordon will be gunning for starts in attack.

For Derby, Martyn Waghorn will return to the squad after missing the Rams' last three games with a hamstring injury.

Beni Baningime and George Edmundson are working their way back to fitness while Lee Gregory, Krystian Bielik and Curtis Davies are out for the season.

Teden Mengi has returned to Manchester United after also suffering a season-ending injury.
