Police have closed a road in Blackburn while they deal with an ongoing incident.

Lancashire Constabulary officers are at the scene of Mincing Lane in the town which has been closed this afternoon (September 25) with a man reported on a roof.

The force confirmed they are attending a concern for safety incident.

Members of the public are asked to avoid the area while emergency services attend the scene.

A spokesperson for Blackburn with Darwen Police tweeted: "We are currently at the scene of an incident in the Mincing Lane area of Blackburn and we would ask people to avoid the area while we deal. We will update you as and when we can. Thanks in anticipation for your co-operation and support."

Heavy traffic has been reported in the surrounding area.

Travel website INRIX said: "Mincing Lane One Way Street closed, heavy traffic due to police incident from George Street to Astley Gate."

It is not yet known how long the closure will be in place for.
