A police guard remains in place on land close to Holderness Drain after reports of a stabbing.

Police were called to an area of grassland by Harleston Close, off Saltshouse Road in east Hull, at around 7.30pm on Sunday.

Three police vans could be seen by the drain with crime scene investigators scouring the area in white suits.

A tent was also put up as officers examined the area for evidence. Read the live blog here.

Harleston Close was cordoned off by police and people were not allowed in or out.

Dozens of residents looked on as police carried out their work at the scene of the reported stabbing. As the evening began to draw on most people began to disperse.

The police guard remains in place but Humberside Police have remained tight-lipped as to the nature of the incident.

A spokeswoman said: “Officers attended to an incident in east Hull shortly after 7pm today (Sunday).

“We want to thank local residents for their patience while the scene guard remains in place.”

An air ambulance attended the scene although witnesses say no casualty was taken away.

But a couple of ambulances were also at the scene and a police aeroplane was continuing to circle overhead.

The area is a popular walking spot and takes you to Sutton Park Golf Course.

One bystander said: “I heard someone has been stabbed.

“This is a popular walk through to the driving range and I take my dogs down here. It is a big shock.”
