A police car was left smashed in a ditch after being involved in a horror two-car crash on the A92 in Fife.

Pictures from the scene showed the marked vehicle crumpled in a ditch by the side of the round following the incident which took place around 1.40pm on Thursday February 27.

Officers confirmed one of their cars had been involved in the crash.

It is not known at this time if anybody has been injured.

But local Facebook site Fife Jammers told The Record both roads have now been closed to allow for a chopper to land.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The A92 has been closed westbound from Crossgates to Cowdenbeath due to a serious crash involving two vehicles, which happened around 1.40pm today.

"Diversions are in place and motorists are asked to avoid the area."
