Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is hopeful Lyon star Houssem Aouar completes a transfer to Arsenal before deadline day after hailing the midfielder's talents.
The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to The Emirates but a deal still appears to be some way off.
Arsenal lodged a bid of around £32million for Aouar last week but it was rejected by Lyon as it falls well short of their £55m valuation of the player.
The Gunners are still in the market for a midfielder having already failed with bids for Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey, while Chelsea's Jorginho is also an option, but Aubameyang has now given his verdict on Lyon star Aouar.
"He's a very good player," Aubameyang said. "I hope we will be lucky to have these types of players at the club, I'm sure he can bring a lot to us.
"I hope he will come even though he's a Lyonnais."
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has now seemingly ruled out the prospect of Aouar as the window draws closer to a conclusion.
"There will be very few departures," Aulas said on Saturday. "For Houssem, Arsenal are too far from his value.
"We are counting on him to play a great game in Lorient and lead Lyon into the Champions League next year."

Arsenal are thought to be preparing another offer to prise Aouar from Lyon in the coming days.
But as far as Aouar is concerned - for now at least - it still seems to be business as usual.
Speaking after Lyon’s 1-1 draw with Lorient on Sunday, Aouar was asked whether the transfer speculation is affecting the team in any way.
"No, not at all, it does not disturb anything," he told Canal Plus. "It’s on the pitch where we have to improve these things. You have to stop hiding behind that."

Key to Arsenal's next move will be whether they can offload any of their own stars on a permanent basis as Mikel Arteta desperately tries to raise funds.
