A mum-of-three who plied a schoolboy with sweets and crisps to sexually touch her has been jailed for 10 years.

Pervert Deborah Yates, 38, convinced her schoolboy victim to meet her in a field near a school in Derby.

Derby Crown Court heard the abuse began when Yates kissed and hugged the boy, but it quickly escalated when she told him to put his hands down her trousers, DerbyshireLive reports.

Jailing Yates for a decade, judge Robert Egbuna branded her "manipulative and deceitful".

In a victim impact statement, the boy said he trusted Yates.

He said: "I realise she was being kind to me and bought me stuff so that I would trust her more and let her do what she wanted to me.

"I feel Debbie took advantage of me as I was 12 and didn't understand my feelings. I wish I hadn't believed all she said and fallen into her trap."

He went on: "I would like Debbie to go to prison for as long as possible. I would be sad to think she could put another child through what I've been through."

Yates was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, two counts of inciting someone under 13 to engage in sexual activity and one count of child abduction.

She was cleared of one count of sexual assault of a child and one count inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

The offences took place in 2017 when both Yates and the boy were both living in Derby.

William Bennett, mitigating, said the woman has no prior convictions and after the offences, she "lost everything".

He said her husband took her three children to Iraq in February 2019 and she fears she may never see them again.

Mr Bennett said Yates is "concerned" about her time in custody and asked the court to keep the sentence as short as possible.

Andrew Vout, prosecuting, described the grooming in court.

He said: "She asked him not to go to school and encouraged him to meet her, rewarding him with sweets and drinks.

"She would meet him in a field near his school and encourage him to kiss and touch her."

He went on: "She would put her hands down his trousers and touch him (sexually). She asked him to do the same, she would give him money, sweets and crisps."

A teacher later found Yates lying down in the bushes with her victim.

The charity Safe and Sound supported the boy after Yates was arrested.

Judge Egbuna accused Yates of trying to fool the jury into thinking she was less intelligent than she is.

He said: "I observed you while you were giving evidence. You sought to suggest to the jury you are someone who has difficulty reading and comprehending what was going on.

"That was far from the truth. You are both manipulative and deceitful."
