Man City manager Pep Guardiola is addressing the media ahead of the weekend's fixture against Crystal Palace.
The City boss has no fresh injury concerns to deal with, presenting him with selection dilemmas in multiple positions. Guardiola led a training session on Thursday ahead of the game.
On the other hand, Palace could be without nine players. Andros Townsend, Jeffery Schlupp, Joel Ward, Luka Milivojevic, Scott Dann, Patrick Van Aanholt, Mamadou Sakho and Max Meyer are all injured.
Guardiola is expected to give an update on the fitness of Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sane who have stepped up their rehabilitation in recent weeks.
He may also be asked about his thoughts of Liverpool's clash against Manchester United on Sunday which could have implications on the title race. Liverpool remain 14 points ahead of City heading into the weekend.
Follow below for the latest updates from Guardiola's press conference at the CFA.
City's long week
No midweek game, so what have City done this week?
We had one or two days off and then we analysed the Aston Villa game because it will be quite similar against Sheffield United, and then move on and prepare knockout games with Fulham and United. After the West Ham game we have 15/16 days so normal routine.
Guardiola asked about Stones Arsenal links
A stock answer from the manager
I am not going to talk about rumours about our players or other players. We are going to buy 500 million players? I’m not going to answer about that.
How to keep motivating yourself
Guardiola asked about if he can keep going until Hodgson’s age.
When you retire you have curiosity to do other things. The problem is when you have no interests to do anything else and you are at home doing nothing. If afterwards you want to enjoy other things, why should it be a problem? I am interested in other things and I think I am going to do them when I am not a manager but I enjoy being a manager
Updates on Sane and Laporte
Another positive week for the two.
Leroy is still not training with us but everything is going really, really well and he should be training with us in another week. Laporte made another week training with us.
Party after Aston Villa game
Guardiola asked about the reports of a party after the Villa game.
I knew about it. When they have time, they make dinners together with the staff. I know it and I like when they are together out of here, sometimes at home or sometimes in restaurants. It was nice
Hodgson at 72
Guardiola admires him
Of course I admire him. It’s incredible how he still has the patience to be a manger at his age. It’s incredible and he is doing really well. We cannot forget the situation when he took over when they had 0 points and everyone considered them relegated. Instead of that, he did an incredible job and it is a pleasure and an honour for me every time I get to see him
Crystal Palace threat
Last season’s game mean anything?
You can win or lose any game but we played against Crystal Palace a lot and we only lost one game. We prepare the game, yesterday and today to do it as best as possible, to win another game.
The City birthday jinx
One of the weirder stats going into tomorrow’s game - Guardiola will become the fifth City manager to take change of a Premier League game on their birthday. The other four did not manage to win!
Ex-United player makes De Bruyne comparison
Things aren’t great over the road at Old Trafford, as evidenced in the gulf in class during the league cup game. Former United player Paul Parker used Kevin De Bruyne to illustrate how bad things could be for the incoming Bruno Fernandes.
“He’s really going to have to hit the ground running and be like United’s own Kevin De Bruyne, because he is going to be judged from the very first minute he starts playing for the club,” he told Gambling.com.
“The only thing is, if you were to put De Bruyne in the United team right now he would struggle because he would be the only creative player in the team – he needs other people to work with him.
Guardiola press conference
Pep Guardiola’s press conference coming up in half an hour, so what can we expect? Probably bits and bobs on these topics, among others
Bruno Fernandes sent Manchester United warning with Kevin de Bruyne comparison
Paul Parker has warned Bruno Fernandes he can’t expect a honeymoon period if he moves to Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Former United defender Parker says Fernandes would have to hit the ground running should he move to Old Trafford, and has challenged him to emulate the importance of Kevin de Bruyne.
Germany manager Joachim Low offers injury update on Man City winger Leroy Sane
Joachim Low is happy with Leroy Sane’s recovery as the Germany manager plots his squad for Euro 2020.
The Manchester City winger was a shock admission from the 2018 World Cup squad that were embarrassingly knocked out in the group stage, Sane culled from the final 23 despite being named the PFA Young Player of the Year for his role in the Centurions campaign.
Sane was brought back into the Germany setup following the nation’s disappointment in Russia but has been sidelined since August after suffering cruciate knee ligament damage in the Community Shield win over Liverpool. The 24-year-old showed his commitment to the national team by having surgery with a doctor used by the Germany squad rather than Pep Guardiola’s preferred surgeon.

Man City can hit Premier League season best vs Crystal Palace
18. 14. 3.
When Manchester City analyse why they have failed to reach the heights of the previous two seasons, the winning runs will likely feature prominently.
The Blues were unstoppable in the back end of 2017, smashing the Premier League record for consecutive wins before finally being stopped by, coincidentally, Crystal Palace.
And they powered past Liverpool in the first half of 2019, a 3-1 win over Arsenal at the beginning of February the first of 14 consecutive wins that saw them retain their title by a single point.
This season they have shown signs of that level, battering the likes of Watford, West Ham and Aston Villa . But the best team over 90 minutes has not been the best team over 22 games. They sit so far behind Liverpool because they have not managed to win more than three league matches in a row.
What Man City and Leroy Sane have to work out before summer transfer window
Where in summer the tone had been challenging, stressing that he didn’t want any player that didn’t want to be at the club, last week the talk was about how he cannot control the different ambitions of footballers and people and what they want can change over three years .
That points towards a summer exit with German giants Bayern Munich waiting, but before then a very important four months awaits for City that Sane and Guardiola need to work out how much the player will be part of.
The Carabao Cup final comes up on March 1 if they can hold off United at the end of this month, beating Fulham will send them into the last-16 of the FA Cup and the Champions League has never felt more important with a huge tie against Real Madrid coming up.
City’s manager is delighted to have Sane close to recovery because it gives him the one thing he craves more than anything else: options. Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus, Benjamin Mendy and Phil Foden all bring certain qualities on that left flank but none of them can quite offer the particular skills that Sane does; in the right circumstances, the German is capable of being the matchwinner against any opposition.
Jose Mourinho 'in talks with Man City defender' over Tottenham switch and more transfer rumours
Cancelo only arrived at the Etihad last summer in a £58.5million move from Italian giants Juventus, in a deal which also saw Danilo head in the opposite direction for £33.3 million.
Despite the investment, the 25-year-old has failed to nail down a place in the first team this season, with only 18 appearances to his name as he competes for the spot with Kyle Walker.
The lack of game time has seen Cancelo already be linked with a move away from the club and the latest reports suggest that Spurs are interested.
El Desmarque, via SportWitness, claim that Jose Mourinho has ‘spoken to his compatriot’ Cancelo regarding his lack of options at right-back and that he could be the solution.
