Pensioner dragged from bed and savagely beaten in heartless attempted Audi theft

Men raided the 77-year-old victim's house and demanded the keys to his Audi car. They proceeded to beat him in the late-night raid leaving him with a bleed on his brain. The pensioner was asleep when the men entered the property and woke him up.

The victim was later rushed to hospital.

The incident happened on Moor Green Lane, Moseley, Birmingham.

The attempted robbery happened between 1.20am and 1.45am on Thursday night.

West Midlands Police said the pensioner was dragged from his bed and punched and kicked multiple times.

The masked men that broke into his home eventually left empty-handed.

He suffered serious injuries including a cut lip, broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder.

The victim is currently still in hospital in a serious condition.

Medical professionals believe the severe beating he sustained could be a result of the assault.

The West Midlands Police are now asking for people to think back if anything seemed unusual at that time the incident is believed to have happened.

People have been asked to check their private CCTV systems to check for anything unusual.

Police have asked local residents to try and remember if they saw anything unusual from around that time that might help with the investigation.

They are also urging anyone with information on the people behind the attack to come forward.
