Paul Pogba discussed his opinions on Manchester United with Raphael Varane and they could hint at his decision regarding a new contract.

The in-form midfielder has nine months remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford but new teammate and French compatriot Raphael Varane has indicated that Pogba is excited by the Red Devils' future.

Enjoying a spectacular start to the season, the playmaker has already registered seven assists and helped United to take 10 points from their opening four Premier League games.

Alongside his fellow 28-year-old France international, Pogba is in the starting lineup to face West Ham on Sunday as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 's side return to top-flight action following their shock Champions League defeat to Young Boys on Tuesday.

Although links with Juventus, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain persist, Varane's words will be music to the ears of Red Devils supporters.

In an interview with Norway's TV2, Varane revealed he talked with Pogba before committing to a move to United - and heard all about the club's ambitions.

"He did not have to convince me that I should travel here, but I have talked to him about the club to find out what it is like to be here from day to day," said the defender.

"It was important for me to hear his opinions and thoughts about the club, the team and their ambitions."

The 28-year-old clearly talked about United in glowing terms, with the summer recruit soon moving after.

And when asked about Pogba's own future, Varane said: "It is of course his decision, but of course I hope he stays here for a long time.

"He is a fantastic player, so I undoubtedly hope that he stays, says the Frenchman."

Varane also believes Solskjaer's side can win "everything," so long as they achieve their potential.

"I honestly believe that there are enough qualities and skills in this group to fight at the top, both in Europe and England," he stated.

"For us, it is about creating a chemistry and a collective strength, that is what you need. But there is all the world's potential here and we have everything you need to win things.

Ex-Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo has also joined the defender at Old Trafford and Varane is delighted with having the five-time Ballon d'Or winner in the same dressing room as him once more.

"He is an exceptional football player and I am very happy that he came here," the France international stated.

"He's nice to have in the closet. He is always positive and he always has a joke in store. Despite his age, he is better than he has ever been and due to his work ethic and his competitive instinct, I still think he has many years ahead of him."

The centre-back continued: "It is very nice to have him on the team, because you know that he will score many goals, so it is better to have him with you than against him."
