Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen enthused about her marriage with husband Clive before rumours of a rift between the pair began to circulate.

The shepherds have been married for 21 years and while Amanda admitted it "wasn't love at first sight" she said the couple were made for each other.

"It was a slow burn thing, we kind of got to know each other,” she said, reflecting on their first meeting in 1996 when she was just 21.

“We were friends first then went out a little bit together.

"With us both coming from non-farming backgrounds we were kind of peas in a pod really, but we didn't know that at the time."

Amanda and Clive have been married for 21 years

Clive, 66, was bowled over when he first met his future wife saying: "I do remember this six-foot-something woman knocked on the door. I was very taken with her. You couldn't not be."

The farmer's first marriage ended in 1995 when he split from his wife after 13 years, and she took their two children - Rosie, then nine, and her 11-year-old brother - to live in Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria.

Amanda and Clive now have nine children together and are adored by fans of their Channel 5 show, however viewers were rocked when it was claimed their once rock-solid marriage was in trouble.

Rumours of marriage troubles are circulating around Clive and Amanda

It has been claimed Amanda, 47, has been spending time away from the family at their nearby rental property.

Meanwhile 66-year-old Clive is said to be "desperate" to repair their relationship.

The news comes as former model Amanda is due to release a new book on her family's life on the farm.

A source told The Sun : "It’s incredibly sad. Amanda and Clive are two hugely popular figures here in the Dales, and no one saw this coming.

“Clive loves Amanda to bits and adores her, and fears the marriage may be failing even though he desperately doesn’t want it to. He fears they will divorce."

The Mirror has reached out to the couple's reps for comment.

Our Yorkshire Farm is on Tuesdays at 9pm on Channel 5.
