A popular Old Town bar has announced it is closing for a couple of weeks.

The Brain Jar in Trinity House Lane confirmed on social media it will "close for a bit" from today (September 23) as part of a relaunch.

Owners say the will be providing “new menus, products, and experiences” when they reopen in a couple of weeks time.

The post on Instagram reads: “Hello friends, as of today we are going to close for a bit.

“We’ll be relaunching with new menus, products and experiences in a couple of weeks.

“Thanks for all your recent support, it’s been manic, but fun (and safe, mustn't forget safe).

“Good luck out there and we will see you soon."

Opening in September 2017, The Brain Jar is a rare treat in Hull’s Old Town with a wide range of cocktails on sale amongst an art café setting.

Owners James Claxton and Giles Seddon moved from York to Hull as the city’s reputation grew under its City of Culture status.

Specialising in cocktails, owners wanted to create a bar that was not only a trendy place to eat and drink but also a spot for creative space, inviting people to contribute art that could be hung up on their walls.
