The gap between Newcastle United and the Premier League drop zone has been cut back to three points after third-bottom Fulham earned a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace.
In the first of four games this afternoon, the Cottagers matched Newcastle's point from the previous day as the battle to avoid relegation continues.
And it might have been worse as far as the Magpies are concerned.
Following a largely chanceless opening 45 minutes, Fulham were bright upon the restart and Scott Parker's side might well have won it on another day.
Indeed, they passed up a number of good opportunities in the second half, with Joachim Andersen and Chelsea loanee Ruben Loftus-Cheek among those going close.
@Sanchino said: "Fulham looked the better team overall and created the better chances, especially at the end. At least they didn't win. Who's got the better goal difference between us or them?"
@DembaBaSyrup posted: "Newcastle really need to aim to finish above Brighton and Burnley. Hardly a tough ask is it? Do that and they stay in the Premier League. Nevermind Fulham."
@StephenGlasss added: "I'll be honest I thought Fulham would have beaten Palace. Tough run of fixtures for them coming up, I'd like to see us extend that gap at least to seven points by April."
@thetoonreview said: "Fulham should have won that one today, but the bottom line is they didn't and it remains three points. A good result for us."
@ClennellPeter posted: "Palace have done us a big favour there. Fulham likely to pick up just one point in the next three games. Newcastle likely to pick up four points in the next three games."
@nufcsaintmax added: "That isn't exactly good from Fulham. They still can't score goals, big sides will punish them in coming weeks."

@ScoutNUFC added: "I expected Fulham to beat Palace. For them to only match our result is good news. They have terrible fixtures over the next couple of weeks, so it's now or never for Newcastle."
