The Unicode Standard is the officially recognized library of emojis and it hosts a staggering 3,521 emojis.

But, something is missing from this huge archive, with gaming characters so far refused entry into the exclusive list.

This may soon change though as Ebuyer has released a list of downloadable gaming character emojis, as well as creating a petition to get them added into the official Unicode Standard.

The online commerce company has made the emojis available to download for free and it includes some of gaming's most iconic franchises such as Mario, Sonic, Grand Theft Auto, and Halo.

The petition has been set up on Change.org and is there to raise awareness of this issue and make a change to benefit gamers all over the world.

“With over 3,500 emojis to choose from, it's hard to believe that our favourite gaming characters have yet to make the list," said Andy Roberts, E-Commerce Director of Ebuyer.

"Hopefully, our petition will encourage change whilst our online library allows users to access their favourite emojis immediately.”

The petition states: "With over 3,500 emojis to choose from, it's hard to believe that our favourite gaming characters have yet to make the list. Sign this petition and we will make a change for gamers globally!"

Ebuyer's emojis can be used in most popular messaging services that use the Unicode Standard, most notably, the popular messaging service Discord which caters to gamers.
