A new branch of Greggs is open for business at Prudhoe's new Tyneview Retail Park.

The shop is one of the 100 new stores that the Tyneside-born bakery chain will be opening over the course of 2021.

Customers will be able to purchase in store or order through Greggs’ new click and collect service.

Shop manager Hayley Martinson said: “We can’t wait to welcome both Greggs fans and new customers to our brand new shop.

"We’ve got an amazing range of tasty bakes, hot drinks, sweet treats and savouries available for takeaway or click and collect.”

Roisin Currie, retail and people director for Greggs, added: “Our new shop at Prudhoe Tyneview Retail Park has brought 16 new jobs to the local area, as well as providing customers with a modern, convenient new place to experience their favourite Greggs food.”

Greggs says that locals can keep an eye out for any more jobs that might be created at the new branch at https://www.greggsfamily.co.uk/.

Retailers have been moving into the new retail park since the end of 2020, with the site's B&M branch opening in November.

Construction began on the scheme, a joint venture between Advance Northumberland and Northumberland Estates, towards the end of 2019.

In total it's predicted to bring around 200 jobs to the area. A new drive-through McDonald's is also set to open there this summer.
