My mum rings me every day crying because of her health issues

MUM'S PAIN

DEAR DEIDRE: MY mum rings me every day crying because of the pain she’s in.

She’s 48 and has had health issues all her life.  I’m a woman of 25 and so scared for her.

My team and I are working safely from home but we are here to help you as always.

The strong painkillers she is on don’t seem to work.

I have told my dad but he just says: “Not again.”

He doesn’t seem to care. Since her own mum died Mum is depressed and doesn’t  want to do anything.

DEIDRE SAYS: I am really worried about you. Your mother clearly has multiple problems but it is not healthy, for either of you, to be her prop.

She cries to you but you can’t resolve these problems for her.

Soon you are going to end up depressed yourself.

Suggest that she contact Pain Concern for advice (painconcern.org.uk, 0300 123 0789) and Cruse bereavement care (cruse.org.uk, 0808 808 1677) for support.

Paracetamol can do more harm than good and SHOULDN’T be prescribed for chronic pain, officials say
