A mum-of-one has come up with a 'genius' idea to keep kids quiet for 20 minutes meaning you can catch up on some much-needed sleep.

The 29-year-old posted a picture of her daughter Layla in the Family Lockdown Tips and Ideas Facebook group.

Alongside the photo, she wrote: "If there are any tired parents out there that are bored of their days and just extremely exhausted and wants to sleep 24/7 this I promise worked a treat...

"I set my 2, nearly 3-year-old a task to draw a pic of me sleeping seeing as she loves her drawing, I told her to take her time and not to rush it and she can have a packet of sweets if she does a really good job. Safe to say I had a nice 20 min nap and the child got her packet of sweets."

Full-time mum Sophia told the ECHO: "My partner is working from home because of the pandemic, he was also in the same room working on his laptop, so my daughter was still being supervised. My partner got a bit of peace and quiet working too and I got to rest my eyes, so we were both winning."

Lots of parents were impressed with many describing Sophia's idea as very clever.

One mum said: "This is genius," and another adding: "Absolute genius! Sadly my two are too old to fall for this one."

Another mum wrote: "I'm gonna try this tomorrow," and another said: "I love this idea !!! So going to try it!"

A few more made other suggestions: "Love it! Another good one is to let her do your hair and play hairdressers, so so relaxing!"

Another added: "My 3 year old loves playing with my hair, so when I've done a night shift the next day I lay down on the sofa and let her play with my hair. I get a power nap in and she's happy playing with my hair for a bit uninterrupted. Win win I say!!"

But lots of others made jokes that their children would probably run wild.

One mum wrote: "I think my boy would actually draw on me," and another added: "Totally relate to the wanting to sleep but I can imagine my 3 yo son drawing all over me while I slept."

Another parent said: "How sweet of her. Unfortunately would never ever work with my same-aged energetic boy," and one mum added: "My two would have literally trashed the house, smashed each other's faces in, eaten the cat and drawn on the walls within a nanosecond of my eyelids closing... what a sweet sweet dream though... lol."
